Byron Bay Adventures

We arrived at Ballina airport and drove to Melissa & Ben's house who very kindly had us stay for the first couple of days we arrived in Byron. We had lots of amazing jams!
Jared and I busked outside Fundamental Foods on the main street. We also played on the Bay FM radio joined by our friends Greg & Rachelle with their daughter Harley who came down from Brisbane to visit.
We stayed at The Arts Factory for three nights in one of there little cube rooms. We never got a chance to take a dip, a bit too cold!
Jared found a critter friend
The night of the Luna eclipse we went down to the beach with our guitars and were joined by a group of friendly folks who jammed along with us.
Byron light house
The Fabulous multi-talented Kathryn Jones! We were lucky enough to stay with Kathryn and her family for a couple of days which was awesome. There's Jared jamming in the back at the Mullumbimby RSL open mic night. We were totally blown away by the awesome music! Ian from Wolfmother playing Jared's guitar, his group was one of my favs.
Mullumbimby Farmers Market ...... Awesome!
While at the Mullum open mic night we were spotted by the lovely couple Darren & Mischelle Managers of The Coorabell Peppers Resort. They invited us to come and play a concert at their resort which was beautiful!
We found this book in a shop, so true.
We had an amazing time in Byron and made some really awesome friends, we look forward to catching up with again soon! Now it was time to begin the journey south to Melbourne, we got this sweet FREE ride on the Transfer car website, other than the tacky dragon on the side it was a wicked van kitted out with all our camping needs. When we picked this van up from Brisbane, it was just on rush hour traffic and getting dark when our GPS ran out of batteries and we didn't have a car charger yet! We ended up 3 hours late to Greg and Rachelle's house but we made it!
Greg and Harley.
Freeway! The beginning of our journey south.

Sydney APRA Song Summit

We had a pretty bumpy flight across the ditch but finally made it safe and sound. Jared's Uncle Pete picked us up from the airport and brought us back to their lovely home in Forrestville.
Jared's cousin Cameron showing off his best monster face and Tara at breakfast bright and early, up for the first day of the summit.
Catching the train from Chatswood station into the city.
Here's where we spent the next three days at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre.
Imogen Heap had a lot of inspiring ideas about songwriting which I'm yet to give a go, here she is about to play some tunes.
Kev Carmody, Australian folk songwriting hero. I was very fortunate to have a song writing workshop with this amazing man. This performance moved me to tears he was just so down to earth and genuine and I decided to buy two of his albums off his website after this.
Neil Finn!! We sat right up the front for this one, hes awesome!
Chrissey and I found a photo booth!
The view from the balcony, Darling Harbour at night fabulous darling!
Fireworks on our way home.
While in Sydney we also got to catch up with my old friend Nicola who I hadn't seen in at least 10 years! Wicked! Cool city would have loved a couple more days to take in more sights but no rest for the wicked, after 5 days Jared and I were off on the plane headed north to Byron Bay.
